Nike Air Tailwind 79 Shoes - Indigo Force / White - Black - Team Orange
First seen in 1979 during the Honolulu Marathon, the Nike Air Tailwind 79 Shoe returns in a bright indigo force colourway with contrasting white swoosh ticks and a cushioned tongue. This latest pair has been designed with materials and colourways that are as authentic as possible, alongside an accurate reproduction of the original silhouette. Constructed from indigo coloured suede across the toes, tongue border and heel, a breathable, textured fabric flows in between allowing for ventilation and flexibility at the sides. Layered on top, a white leather swoosh tick leads to the back of the shoe where bold ‘NIKE’ text has been printed in a matching tone of blue. Cotton laces loop over the top of the fabric tongue which has a branded woven label attached. Staying true to its running design roots, the heel features a Nike Air unit which provides lightweight cushioning. The bright white rubber outsole includes a black waffle traction pattern which provides a high level of grip.
Designed to be lightweight and fast, the Nike Air Tailwind is known as the style that introduced the Air-Sole cushioning to footwear back in 1979. The revolutionary air pocket technology was developed by NASA engineer Frank Rudy and changed the face of sportswear forever. A rework on previous releases, this new Indigo Force colourway celebrates the origins of the design through accurately following the same colourway and materials originally used.
