Tender Type 492 Bench Shirt

Arriving as a fresh take on a classic shirting design, this Tender Type 492 Bench Shirt is made from 100% cotton tote cloth which has been indigo dyed and washed. The front is fastened by small circular aluminium buttons which lead to the standing collar neckline highlighted by contrasting white top stitching which continues along the edge of the button placket, shoulder seams, sleeves and hem in addition to accentuating a large single chest pocket on the right side. Offering space to carry essential items, the chest pocket is larger with a practical rectangular shape and bartack stitching on either side of the open entrance point in addition to a double stitched border that secures the pocket to the rest of the design. On the reverse stitching across the shoulder shows the inside front panel yoke line which has been pressed with a centre seam in reference to a traditional split yoke dress shirt. Additionally, the front panel wraps over the shoulder, under the back panel. The same two-hole buttons that have been used on the front can be seen again on the pleated sleeve cuffs which are buttoned into the sleeve seam. The hem of the body is straight for a clean finish with side split seams on either side.

As an edited interpretation of a draughtsman’s shirt, this new Type 492 Long Sleeve Bench Shirt perfectly demonstrates Tender’s focus on construction and fabric with considered details and references to archival designs which result in an unusual finish that will appeal to anyone who appreciates craftsmanship and ‘for-life’ pieces.
