Garbstore
Focusing on the aspect of imagined reproduction by adopting, altering and adapting existing styles, London based Garbstore was launched in 2008 by designer Ian Paley. Part of the Couverture & The Garbstore concept store based in Notting Hill that was co-founded by Emily Dyson, Garbstore’s unique aesthetic combines elements from Japanese, British and French design with an admiration for utility orientated military wear and vintage workwear. Their 188 Kensington Park storefront strives to showcase a broad range of emerging talent and independent designers, whilst their eponymous label draws continual influence from what is often classed as ‘unfamiliar vintage’.
Pairing a passion for heritage stylings with a passion for contemporary design, Garbstore’s re-imagined aesthetic merges cut-and-sew tradition with a distinct instinct for innovation. Heavily influenced by Paley’s industrial experience and personal interpretation of both past and present streetwear culture, the brand is home to collaborations with the likes of Keen, SUBU and eye_C Magazine. Led by a choice use of progressive and modern fabrics sourced from Japan, Italy and the UK with an undoubted focus on functionality, durability and archive infused originality.
