Haeckels
Inspired by the natural remedies that the ocean and the brand’s Kentish coastline has to offer, Margate-based Haeckels was founded in 2012 by volunteer beach warden and coastal enthusiast Dom Bridges. Born from a desire to create simple hand crafted products that showcased the surrounding coastline’s natural ingredients in honour of Bridge’s admiration for healthy coastal living, Haeckels’ influential philosophy is one centred around aspects of sustainability and preserved organic culture. Collecting seaweed and local botanicals and experimenting to exemplify their health-giving properties in a manner which raises awareness about natural produce and the fragility of the ocean, Dom’s commitment to his coastal heritage is one well and truly ingrained into the blueprint of Haeckels’ growing collection of skincare, haircare and everyday serums.
Opening their Cliff Terrance Lab in 2013 where they carry out all their full assessments and stability tests, Haeckels’ ‘craft first’ mindset is one focused on reminding and educating its audience on the natural wealth of Margate's coastline. Combining seaweed extracts, vitamins, organic seed oils and sustainable packaging sourced from recyclable mycelium (fungi), the brand’s focus on environmental innovation pairs well with their ability to curate some of the most creative home scents, fragrances and healthcare serums the industry has yet to see.
