Nike Air Vortex Shoes - Dusty Peach / Obsidian Mint - Laser Orange
The blend of materials in the iconic Nike Air Vortex’s have made it one of the most iconic shoes released in the last thirty years from the Oregon based brand. The suede toe cap is decorated in a subtle dusty peach, which runs through the classical lacing unit and around the eyelets, which are curved following inspiration taken from the Internationalist - released a few years prior to this 80’s cult classic. The addition of the breathable mesh on the toe vamp in the same colour introduces a different material. The sides are adorned in a laser orange nylon, which offers up another gridded texture to boldly contrast the obsidian mint suede Swoosh which loops around to the heel tab and features a Nike Air logo. Finally they rest on a white midsole which bring’s the colours together harmoniously over a gum outsole.
Despite having a deep seeded eighties design, the Vortex has been updated with modern technological function. For instance your heel is supported through a Zoom Air unit which, sitting inside of the sockliner, provides extra cushioning. The lightweight phylon midsole sits atop a waffle outsole, which provides multi-directional traction to reflects this shoes heritage as an early runner. Finally it mirrors your gait ensuring a smooth ride even in walk-heavy days.
Easily paired despite their bold colouring with anything from shorts to jeans, this blend of retro styling with modern function embodies Nike’s recent ventures in their streetwear releases and keeps us all excited to see what they’ve still got to offer.
