Nike Daybreak Type Shoes

Seen here in a futuristic light smoke grey colourway with game royal accents and hints of sail, these Nike Daybreak Type Shoes reference the prototype stage of footwear design and are inspired by the work of Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman. The textile uppers have a durable finish with outlined Swoosh tick emblems stitched in game royal on either side of the foot whilst a suede overlay wraps around the front of the toes for durability on top of curved leather panelling which is secured by rough colour matched top stitching and blue zig zag detailing underneath. Helping to keep the foot in place and comfortable during everyday wear, the tongue is lightly padded with a large woven label positioned around the top edge bearing stylised ‘N.354’ branding which helps to signify this shoe being a part of an experimental project. Similarly, the game royal heel tab provides a background for the same logo design and below a larger synthetic panel protects a key area before continuing across the rubber outsole. A soft fabric lining runs throughout the shoe for further comfort alongside a cushioned insole whilst the outsole features an iconic Waffle tread pattern that delivers a high level of traction whilst adding distinctive detail to the overall design.

Demonstrating the process of developing a prototype for a new footwear model, the Nike Daybreak Type Shoes feature playful elements and pay homage to the work of Bill Bowerman who helped to launch Nike into the spotlight during the ‘70s with innovative running footwear creations. The zig zag stitch overlays and mix of materials seen on this shoe reflect the experimental design stage before final decisions are made whilst modern construction methods and finishes ensure a high level of comfort and quality.
