Introducing: Uniform Bridge
Based in Korea with a reputation that has since gathered attention worldwide, relative industry newcomers Uniform Bridge have arrived at Always in Colour to present their contemporary vision and their minimalistic sense of appeal. Clean-lined and well-balanced, the brand addresses modernity with a refreshing ode to clarity, whilst their casual aesthetic and humble persona strikes right at the core of high-end, industry influencing streetwear.
Aged at roughly five years old, Korean fashion brand Uniform Bridge are comparatively new to the scene when paired against similar brands such as David Keyte’s Universal Works and Copenhagen-based Norse Projects, yet their wealth of industrial experience and their clear-sighted knowledge of the market never ceases to falter. Transforming the innate character associated with archival military designs and combining it with classic outdoor profiles, vintage-inspired silhouettes and more neutral, down-to-earth colour palettes, Uniform Bridge hosts an air of urbanised sophistication which sets about adhering to any on the go lifestyle, regardless of setting or social restraint. After a short stint showcasing in London-based Options, a pop-up space that has presented the likes of US Rubber Company and Wolfskin Tech Lab, Uniform Bridge then went on to celebrate the launch of its first-ever ‘edit-edition’ shop in April 2020 in the ‘Dragon Hill’ Yongsan District of Seoul City. The 15th store to join the brands lofty rosta, Edit 15 is a carefully curated spot inspired by traditional Korean ‘lunisolar’ heritage, honouring nature across both levels of its structure; a ‘Moon Light’ first floor and an ambient ‘Sunshine’ hued second floor.
With an appreciation for technical details such as utility belts, extra storage pockets and exposed bungee cords, Uniform Bridge fuses workwear practicality with ultra-modern necessity. Fuss-free utilitarian designs such as their popular, blue-collar undertone M65 Pants are fitted with reinforced panellings to help promote a more rough-and-ready profiling, whilst season-mindful staples such as their Utility Pocket T-Shirt and Canadian Short Sleeve Shirt bring to the surface their own unique interpretation of classic American military-wear. Tones of khaki, washed grey and mahogany are paired with reformulated fabrics such as their enhanced-combed ‘Komasa’ yarn to deliver a lowered deformation when paired with leisurely wear. Honing in on details, quality and a commitment to functional practicality, Uniform Bridge is as militant in its design style as it is in its aesthetic.
Loyal to its outdoor-ready aura and its explorative nature, the brand has since had the opportunity to collaborate with like minded industry experts Marmot, with their Spring ‘20 collection similarly appearing in the April issue of Japanese outdoor lifestyle magazine Go Out. Thanks to their all-round appeal and their unrestrained creativity, Uniform Bridge offers a well-rounded aesthetic that caters to the many, not the few. Further collaborations with surfwear company Maui & Sons, fellow Korean clothing brand Aging CCC and British shoe company Trickers, do nothing more than cement this claim, whilst their simplified and stripped-back modernisation of casual attire continues them steadfastly with an internationally admired recognition and a well-connected character to match.
