Air Max 1 'By Day / By Night'
Releasing Thursday 20th September, Nike deliver two 'By Day / By Night' colourways in the iconic Nike Air Max 1 and we'll be opening early to celebrate. Available at our Always in Colour shop in Exeter at 8am, the twin pack are looking to be one of the seasons biggest drops. We're keeping it physical for a one-hour window before they go online and disappear into the ether.
The two editions are inspired by the world famous Centre Pompidou in Paris (home to the vast Bibliothèque publique d'information library, the Musée National d'Art Moderne - the largest museum for modern art in Europe - and IRCAM, a centre for music and acoustic research). The groundbreaking "inside-out aesthetic" of Pompidou became the muse behind Nike designer Tinker Hatfield's most revolutionary idea: visible Nike Air cushioning. This drop is about taking it all back home.
The 'By Day' edition has coloured lines flowing along each contour of the upper, mirroring the painted pipes that highlight the walls of the Pompidou. The pallet of University Red and Royal Blue reference the very first Air Max 1 iteration. The 'By Night' edition is a monochrome dream in full greyscale with Metallic Silver detailing, a gesture to how Pompidou glints in the Parisian city night.
The translucent outsoles on both shoes cleverly reveal more colourful pipe motifs as well as a unique logo, designed especially for this model. Made up of three 'P's, it stands for Paris, Pompidou and pipes.
Nike have released images showing the design process and both editions are looking mighty fine.
