Originally founded as ONITSUKA Co., Ltd in 1949 by salary-man turned war veteran Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka, the company soon changed its name to ASICS after taking inspiration from Roman satirist Juvenal and the Latin expression ‘Anima Sana In Corpore Sano’ which translates as ‘you should pray for a healthy mind in a healthy body’. Letting their 1987 coined slogan ‘Sports Technology for Active Lifestyles’ guide the way through an admirable 70 year legacy, ASICS is a performance-focused footwear and apparel brand known for its advancements across basketball, wrestling, volleyball and evolutionary track-and-field sports culture.

Maintaining its ‘sound mind, sound body’ acronymity, ASICS welcomed the timely re-release of its ONITSUKA TIGER sub-division in 2002, with heritage stylings such as the MEXICO66, ULTIMATE81 and NIPPON60 paying homage to heritage Japanese sports culture through its revitalised ode to modern-day necessity. Taking great pride in delivering tech-led FlyteFoam, fuzeGEL, Solyte and IGS (Impact Guidance System) advancements across all their functional footwear designs, ASICS continues to capture the attention of both the evolutionary streetwear and performative sportswear industry through iconic silhouettes such as the Gel-1090, Gel-Preleus and GEL-NIMBUS 23, as well their 2015 relaunched ASICSTIGER brand.
