Black Friday | Lo-Fi
Host to two storefronts on Howard Street in Perth, streetwear label and independent retailer Lo-Fi is the sibling brand of Garth Mariano and Matt Evans’ Butter Goods. Although inspired by the evolutionary nature of both Australian and international skate culture, Lo-Fi is self described as an ungoverned brand that’s continually influenced by forgotten pop reference, fringe culture and the understated obsolete. Letting lo-fi music, lo-fi print publication and lo-fi video inspire its namesake, the brand’s expressive and unchallenged design style is one that continues to bring people together both aesthetically and through their pop-up showcase offerings.
Taking creative cue from religious iconography, psychedelics, meditation and the community that surrounds their business district locale, Lo-Fi takes charge of its Western Australian roots to bring like minded individuals closer together through their shared appreciation for creativity, abstract expression and limitless possibilities. Founded in 2014, six years after Butter Goods was established, sibling brand Lo-Fi continues to inspire with their latest #011 collection a tribute to subversive counter culture, ‘80s nostalgia and the label’s own love of custom prints and illustrative design.
