Founded in 1927 by Edouard Beerens, Vetra has remained true to its French workwear lineage after various expansions and relocations. Originally based in Paris in the 1920’s, Vetra began by crafting menswear workwear garments before finding the facilities too limited. This then led the company to relocate to Lambesart in northern France where designing, pattern creation and production continued. Not ones to follow trends, but rather continue to do what they do best, Vetra’s utilitarian undertone owes its legacy to the brand’s ties to its 1939 military-uniform manufacturing roots, with Beerens’ son joining the company in 1950 after graduating as an engineer in garment manufacturing. Led by their savoir-faire ode to traditional workwear and time-honoured cut-and-sew aesthetics, Vetra’s authenticated reputation for quality and longevity is what continues to help pioneer the modern-day market.
A choice use of materials ranging from wool to premium cotton-corduroy are utilised readily across each seasonal collection, with timeless tailorings styled in France celebrating the brand’s notedly militant undertone. Intricate embroideries pay homage to the brand’s evolutionary ‘VETements de TRAvail’ namesake, with the distinctive use of exposed utility pockets striking the perfect balance between functionality and high-end fashion. Favoured silhouettes such as the No.4 jacket, Vetra 5C jacket and 99U overshirt deliver modernised twists on casual day-on-day staples, with the brand’s for-life mantra reflective of their commitment to quality design and authenticated all-season artisanship.
