Converse CTAS 70's Hi Renew Denim Shoes

Arriving as part of the next capsule for Converse’s Renew project which looks to reduce environmental impact by making use of waste materials these CTAS 70s Hi Renew Denim Shoes use vintage denim sourced from Beyond Retro UK that has been worn and aged in different ways which results in no two pairs being the same. The inner side panels and tongue have been cut from light wash denim and have white screen printed circular Converse All Star emblems in the usual position alongside two silver metal eyelets above the outsole that encourage ventilation. The outer panels are a darker denim and white contrast stitching can be seen across the whole design. White cotton laces keep the fit secure and are held in place by silver metal eyelets and throughout the inside a fabric lining has been added for comfort in addition to a cushioned insole. The white rubber outsole is higher than conventional Converse models and is made from recycled materials which result in there being a subtle speckled effect across the toe cap and outsole. An additional textured section wraps around the front of the toes and a monochrome Converse All Star Chuck Taylor Renew patch has been added on the edge of the heel. Converse’s signature tread pattern completes the design underfoot.

Launched in 2019 the Converse Renew project encourages us to think about how we use and discard materials and what impact this has upon the environment. For their latest capsule of styles Converse have partnered with Beyond Retro UK who source over 1 million pairs of jeans a month to create unique editions of their footwear models. As the largest upcycled collection to achieve industrial scale these denim styles demonstrate Converse’s efforts to become more sustainable without loosing their timeless charm.
