Fred Beckey

Published by Patagonia, 100 Fav North American Climbs is a hardcover book that includes author and iconic American Rock Climber Fred Beckey’s top 100 routes, alongside honorable mentions of a few more. The introduction is written by Alpinist Barry Blanchard and a combination of text, high quality photographs and hand-drawn climbing topos are included, giving an authentic look into natural history which influenced Beckey’s passion. A great read for anyone interested in rock climbing or Fred Beckey’s extraordinary life.

Known for climbing more first ascents than any other North American climber, Fred Beckey continued to climb into his early 80s before passing in 2017. In honour of his life and legacy Patagonia released a feature documentary entitled ‘Dirtbag: The Legend of Fred Beckey’ in 2018 which gave an insight into his character, knowledge of North America and nomadic mountaineering lifestyle.
