Nike Air Max 1 Centre Pompidou Shoes

The latest Air Max 1 release includes two new colourways. Inspired by a visit to the Centre Pompidou in Paris, legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield has stayed true to original influences and innovations behind the original Nike Air Max. The pure platinum, royal blue edition is the lighter ‘By Day’ version of the two new releases, made from a combination of materials including crisp white leather, light grey suede and breathable mesh. The visible air bubble showing the red inner structure is a key iconic detail of the Air Max 1, and the iconic ‘swoosh’ has been given a crisp blue leather update. The coloured lines that border the contoured outer represent the painted pipes that highlight the walls of the Pompidou whilst the red and royal blue reference the original Air Max 1 design.

Style aside, the Air Max 1 Centre Pompidou provides ample heel and foot support thanks to the famous cushioned lining, and foam Air-sole comfort. Pairs are complete with translucent outsoles, set against multicoloured stripes layered with a visible ‘P’ logo, symbolizing the designs’ influences. Finished with fresh cotton laces, sturdy lace tabs and subtle stitched tongue and embossed heel branding.

First released in 1987, the Nike Air Max 1 was the original style released in the Air Max line. Designed by former architect Tinker Hatfield, the Air Max 1 has had multiple re-releases in new colourways, each celebrating the first design. The newest styles still remain distinctively similar to the first editions thanks to the pioneering foam soles with Max Air cushioning, rubber outsoles and visible air bubble structure.
