Nike Air Max 2 Light Shoes

Nike has once again dipped into their extensive archive, this time reviving the Air Max 2 Light in a 1:1 design. The toebox features black underlays, with a wolf-grey trim. This switches out for a jagged black overlay contrasting a grey mesh underlay on the quarter panels, further details include a thunderstorm coloured Swoosh logo on the lateral side - something further matched by a heritage Air Max 2 badge on the tongue. The heel is finished with Nike branding on the TPU accents in wolf grey. This ominously coloured upper is contrary to the lighter nature of the models previous colourways, but the midsole adds bright hints of volt in the exposed Air Max unit to contrast the black background. 3M detailing changes the visuals in low-light situations, highlighting the key areas of the shoe.

With European engineering behind the design, the shoe performs as well as it did in its heyday. The combination of premium materials on the upper provides both breathability with support, while the Max Air unit allows for springy cushioning in the underfoot. Being the light edition, the exposed Air unit varies in PSI to offer different levels of cushioning on either the side or heel of the foot - something that was developed to deal with the issue of heavy running shoes. Finally a Phylon foam midsole gives a plush, cushioned feel, with a rubber outsole for durable traction.

The Air Max 2 Light colourways traditionally nod at American sports through lighter colours, previously including the Miami Dolphins. Despite obviously taking a break from traditional whites and yellows, this pair pays homage to the Seattle Seahawks - showing an update to the heritage and in turn making it perfect for SS19.
