Nike Air Max 97 Shoes

Inspired by the Japanese bullet train, the Air Max 97 Shoe has come into SS19 with a tonal brown colour palette. Staying true to the layered structure; the shoe features an ale brown synthetic upper which has a soft feel and textured surface which cuts through an elemental gold mudguard on the side, which is accented with an embroidered black swoosh. The upper then alternates between an elemental gold synthetic leather and black 3M bands that run the length of the shoe. The hidden lacing unit crosses over the leather tongue, which features a white and silver rubber pull tab for adjusting fits. This autumnal themed upper sits on a crisp white midsole, with a brown airbag to merge the upper colours. Finally the outsole is translucent, allowing for barcode detailing on the sole to show through.

Featuring a full length air unit, the first of its kind originally, which provides lightweight cushioning keeping you comfortable in all day wear. The outsole is made of abrasion resistant rubber and features a waffle profile for additional traction. The Air Max 97’s are finished with a low profile fit, offering a snug fit with a sportswear look.

The shoe’s designer, Christian Tresser, found inspiration for the upper’s design lines from water dropping in a pond and the ripple effect that follows. Twenty years since its inception, the Air Max 97 has developed into one of the world’s favourite everyday sneakers with a huge variety of styling opportunities. Equally it paved the way for other full length air soles seen on the VaporMax and the new Air Max 720.
