Nike Air Max 98 Shoes

Offering the same vintage style that brought the shoe to fame with updated comfort systems, the Nike Air Max 98 is staying true to its roots in this colourway for SS19. The layered approach offers several premium materials used in its construction, black leather and suede make up the toe vamp connecting to the side panel which is contrasted by a bright yellow embroidered swoosh. A blue piping provides contrast to the durable mesh upper which surrounds the lacing unit, which also features hints of red and yellow to contribute to the retro colour palette. The inside side panel is finished with a brightly coloured ‘98’ paying homage to the shoe’s birth year. Finally this sits atop a tonal midsole and outsole with a transparent air unit.

Despite having distinctly vintage looks, these shoes feature an updated cushioning system in the full length sole which was inspired by its predecessor the Air Max 97. Furthermore the IP foam midsole gives a durable lightweight comfort, with rubber outsoles for additional traction.

Twenty one years ago, this shoe received little hype upon its initial release but in 2016 it became the face of a legendary collaboration with Supreme which made it the talking point on almost every social media. Since, they have released some of the smoothest colourways which often stay true to the shoes decades of history giving them the attention they truly deserve.
