Nike Air Tailwind 79 Shoes

Offering the same performance as it did over 40 years ago, the Nike Air Tailwind 79 is back in a classically retro colour palette for SS19. The breathable mesh underlays have been decorated in pure platinum, with contrasting suede overlays featuring on the toe box, eyestays and heel in a contrasting baroque brown. The Swoosh that decorates both lateral panels uses black leather to introduce a new texture, which is complimented at the rear of the collar in brown. Aesthetic detailing is introduced through a royal blue collar and ‘Nike’ branding at the heel. The array of subtle colours is harmonised over a white midsole and black outsole.

Initially having been designed as a running shoe in 1978, features include the iconic Air Unit in the sockliner which provides lightweight and responsive cushioning - the Tailwind was the debut of this technology and inspired future Air Max generations. Further improvements include a soft textile collar which provides support and a waffle patterned rubber outsole for multidirectional traction, a true homage to the 1979 marathon runners that put this shoe to the test.

This 1:1 remake is the perfect addition for summer as an elevated piece of casual footwear.
