Nike Air Tailwind 79 Shoes

Featuring the same technology that blew it to fame in the 70’s, the Nike Air Tailwind 79 has returned in 2019 in a deep red colourway. Lightweight suede features on the toe cap in a gym red shade, layered over a red breathable mesh that makes up the majority of the upper body of the shoe. The eyelets of the shoe are adorned in suede to further highlight the toe cap and similarly the heel counter. The side panels feature a leather swoosh in bright white to complement the colourway perfectly, which connects to the white heel tab which is embossed with a red Nike spellout. The foam midsole is a crisp white and the shoe is finished with a black outsole.

Staying close to its original design as a running shoe, the Tailwind is primed to provide durable comfort and support. Cushioning is guaranteed with the Nike Air unit within the sole to reduce impact stress from heavy use, the soft textile collar adds extra support and the waffle finish on the rubber outsole will guarantee traction in all directions for a multitude of circumstances.

Initially a sample for marathon runners, the Tailwind found such success in the running community that it spilt over into the early generations of sneakerheads. It’s simplistic yet functional design has stayed true to its roots even now four decades later, in a clean red colourway that looks as though it were picked straight out of the shoes heyday but ready for today’s styling.
