Nike Blazer Mid '77 Vintage Shoes
A basketball, skate and street sneaker rolled into one, the Nike Blazer Mid ‘77 Vintage Shoes are a true staple of Nike’s impact on both sportswear and streetwear history. The body of the shoe is primarily constructed out of a crisp white leather upper, with side panels being accented with raised stitching. The toe box and outer panel are adorned with a light grey suede which offers a tonal contrast to the weathered cream midsole, matching the deconstructed foam tongue. Finally the shoe is accented with a clean blue leather swoosh which loops around to the heel counter, sitting under a purposely speckled blue Nike spellout clearly reminiscent of the shoes rich heritage.
The first Nike shoe to be used on the court, the Blazer is named after the Portland team close to the brands Beaverton HQ, it had created a legacy for itself with its simplistic yet comfortable and supportive design. The 1977 edition features small technical differences to the original from 4 years prior, most notably a slimmer profile and the addition of suede guards on the midfoot and toe cap. But over 45 years on from its original inception it is still the face of the Nike brand, having been the poster-shoe for collaborations with everyone from Virgil Abloh’s Off-White to Supreme. It is an easy staple for the summer; sitting perfectly under both shorts and trousers, an unbeatable classic.
