Nike Challenger OG Shoes

As one of Nike’s latest archival designs to be reintroduced for modern day, this light bone and black edition of the Nike Challenger OG Shoes has had contemporary updates that ensure a high level of comfort and durability without taking away from the appeal of the original model. The uppers are made from a combination of fabrics with a durable mesh overlay across the toe vamp and tongue, lightweight nylon across the side panels and suede around the heel and front of the shoe. Solid black Swoosh ticks have been positioned on either side of the foot, cut from smooth leather for a stand out effect against the lighter tone uppers with tips that continue around the heel below a black shaped overlay tab above adorned with bold ‘Nike’ lettering in white and a wider light bone tone suede panel below. The lace fastening is held by zig zag eyelets that allow you to tighten or loosen the fit to suit above a mesh tongue with an almost-raw edge half concealed by a woven label presenting signature Nike branding in black and orange. A soft fabric lining runs throughout the shoe for additional comfort and underfoot the rubber outsole is accentuated at the heel with a grip-focused waffle tread pattern underneath that is exaggerated to ensure a reliable level of traction.

First seen in 1979, the Nike Challenger was created to solve common issues of weight and fit that were often felt by athletes and sports fans wearing running footwear styles of the time. The use of a combination of lightweight fabrics such as nylon, mesh and suede in key areas increased breathability and durability in addition to all-important flexibility which reduced issues noted and launched the Challenger into the spotlight as part of a collection of innovative styles that were being introduced by Nike at the time. Back for 2020 as an opportunity to experience the OG design with a fresh look that is a near replica of the original, we expect the Challenger to become a go-to everyday style for any fans of retro footwear.
