Nike Daybreak Shoes

Exuding a ‘70s runner-inspired look, this light armory blue and obsidian colourway of the Nike Daybreak Shoes gives the low cut silhouette a distinctive vintage look with modern updates and contemporary materials. Pulled straight from the archives, this model acts as an accurate reproduction of the original with signature details remaining such as a durable suede border around the front of the toe vamp, around the back of the heel and across either side of the crisp white lace up fastening. Lightweight nylon has been selected for the uppers and continues across the tongue which has a woven label wrapped around its top edge presenting signature Nike Swoosh tick branding. Additionally, obsidian tone Swoosh ticks cut from a synthetic material have been positioned on either side of the foot with tips that continue around the back of the heel, meeting below a white leather collar overlay that provides a base for bold ‘Nike’ lettering. Throughout the inside of the shoe a soft fabric lining increases the comfort of the overall design and underfoot a white foam midsole offers protection from impact, alongside a rubber waffle outsole that presents a signature tread pattern associated with the Nike Daybreak design.

First released in 1979, the Nike Daybreak was originally created for American runner Joan Benoit Samuelson with specific flex grooves and a plastic heel clip to slow her pronation. Aiding her in winning gold during the first women’s Olympic marathon in 1984, the shoe gained a momentous following for its style and performance and was recently reintroduced at the end of 2019.
