Nike Waffle Racer Shoes - Light Blue / Midnight Navy - Midnight Navy
A 1:1 iteration of the seventies classic, the Nike Waffle Racer Shoes have retained a silhouette inspired by moccasins but have updated the nylon and suede upper with dual tones of light blue and midnight navy. The suede overlays are matched by the synthetic leather swoosh that dominates the side panels and runs back to the branded heel tab. A wedge midsole cuts through the tonal blue in white and corresponds to the exposed tongue, while the black rubber outsole harmonises the colours.
Modern technical details have managed to create a supreme level of comfort whether you’re testing these out on the track or on the streets, a memory-foam sockliner retains the shape of your foot for lasting comfort while the dual-density foam of the EVA midsole generates responsive cushioning in each step. Finally the waffle rubber outsole which gives these shoes their name was designed specifically to give traction on any terrain.
Designed by Bill Bowerman himself by using urethane in his own home waffle maker, the shoe was designed as a multifaceted answer to shoes that could be worn anywhere for any purpose. Despite their own re-release being delayed until this year, they have most recently been the face of collaborations with Sacai and Off-White.
